A Spiritual Journey

This is a great time of the year to start a new thing, therefore I have decided to commit to writing a blog a week for the next year. There has been a bit a nudge on the way from God in the process. I must admit have been doing a bit of study into the blogging process with Michael Hyatt, so I hope I  have a few more clues. The two  major things I have picked up is that I need to write quality and be consistent in my writing i.e. if  I say weekly........... it needs to weekly. ...... not rocket science!

I have realised is that I have been incredibly inconsistent in my attitude to my writing. It has kind of been when I feel like it, which is not acceptable for you the reader. I do apologise and will make it a priority to write weekly.  Only you as readers can decide if what I write is quality,  I will do my best and leave the rest up to you.

As part of my spiritual journey I have decide to spend the next year exploring the book "Devotional Classics" edited by Richard J Foster and James Bryan Smith. I have had this book on  the shelf for a decade and never quite gone beyond the first couple of weekly readings. This is not a book for the faint hearted, it takes some thinking about. My challenge then is to blog the journey that I am about to embark on. I am quietly excited and expectant.

The book has an interesting format it is divided into 5 sections:
1. Preparing for the Spiritual Life.
2. The Prayer - Filled Life.
3. The Virtuous Life.
4.The Compassionate Life.
5. The Word-Centred Life.

The weekly readings are written by multiple authors encompassing the 18 centuries of wisdom. At the end of each reading are a set of questions they will provide a structure for my thoughts and writing.

Onward we go.
